A message from the college

Dear Students,

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) Career Expo was a huge success for students and employers. We were pleased to have more than 500 students in attendance. Many of you were seeking internship and job opportunities, while some were there to explore future career options and plans. Whatever your reason, I hope that you were able to walk away from the Expo with a better idea of what your future career plans entail.

For those of you who were unable to attend this year’s Expo, please visit the CALS Career Resources website to view the printed program and employers in attendance. You can always contact companies of interest and set-up an informational interview. If you were at the Expo, then I encourage you to follow-up with the employers you are most interested in to continue your pursuit of a career within their company.

We are currently working to develop a student survey to assess our current student programs and career resource needs. In the interim, if you have suggestions, then please contact me at cvitelli@ufl.edu.

Go Gators,

Chris Vitelli
Director, Student Development

Job opportunities

Looking for a job?  As you near the end of your college career, searching for a job becomes high priority.  Taking the first step to begin your job search can be overwhelming.  There is so much information available it's hard to know where to start.  Some on-line job searches can give you thousands of returns on your search.

Try starting with the CALS Job Database.  The employers listed are specifically looking to hire CALS students and alumni. Visit the Job Database each week and check out the newest positions highlighted in the "Job Spotlight section.  You can also search for other current openings in the "Students" section. Each posting provides background information about the job, the contact person in the company, and directions for applying.  Also in the database are internship listings available only to CALS Students.

Internship opportunities

Need an Internship?  Internships can be a valuable part of your student experience.  Through internships you gain relevant, professional, and valuable experience while establishing contacts with professionals and companies that may offer you a job upon graduation.  But how do you find a great internship that is right for you?  That's where the iCenter can help.

The iCenter is an internet database consisting of approximately 1,000 internships for agricultural, environmental and life science students.  Internship opportunities are located throughout the U.S. and abroad.  The iCenter is part of the Southeastern Consortium for Agricultural, Environmental and Life Science Internships.  The member schools include University of Florida, Clemson University, North Carolina State University, University of Georgia, and University of Kentucky.  Each week new internship opportunities are added and/or updated.
