• Congratulations to Alan Chambers, horticultural sciences, and Ricardo Valladares, microbiology and cell science, on receiving the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science for Life Graduate Student Award. This award recognizes graduate students who participate in research and publication opportunities in the life sciences in collaboration with undergraduates.

CALS is the teaching arm of UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). IFAS is a federal-state-county partnership dedicated to developing knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences, and enhancing and sustaining the quality of human life by making that information accessible.

IFAS includes the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, which administers and supports research programs in UF/IFAS and the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, which provides Floridians with lifelong learning programs.
