Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS)

MANRRS is a national organization of undergraduate, graduate, and professional members with academic and networking opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels. We are committed to representing the diverse backgrounds and areas of study in the agriculture, natural resources, and related science industries; our membership is open to all majors.

MANRRS promotes career development, academic success, and social interaction. Our chapter sponsors annual events including a guest speakers series at biweekly meetings; leadership events, such as the regional clusters and national convention; and fundraisers that support chapter activities and our annual national convention excursion.

Our executive board works diligently throughout the year to create the motivating programs and unique experiences the UF MANRRS chapter is known for. Elections are held two weeks before the end of a semester, but members can be appointed to positions.

History

MANRRS began as a shared vision by a group of agriculture students and faculty members at Michigan State University and Pennsylvania State University. Their goal was to develop partnerships between minority students and professionals within academic institutions, government and agriculturally related industries. That commitment led to the first national MANRRS conference, held at Michigan State University, in 1986. Since then, MANRRS has become a national organization comprised of thousands of student and professional members.

• Chapter History

  As one of the founding chapters, the University of Florida MANRRS Chapter has connected members with professional networks, academic research, and leadership experiences since 1989. UF MANRRS is an official organization, recognized by the CALS Council and the University of Florida Center of Student Activities and Involvement.
