About ExtravaCANza

ExtravaCANza is an event highlighting service, a CALS core value, while encouraging student collaboration. This friendly competition aims to support and build awareness for The Alan and Cathy Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry and student food insecurity.

RULES

  • Teams must be exactly four people.
  • The team captain must register at https://ufl.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0H5qJ245GrUTfr8
  • Each team will be given a dedicated time to CANstruct on November 1, 2 or 3.
    All CANstruction will take place in 2025 McCarty Hall D.
  • Each team will have a maximum of 90 minutes to CANstruct.

WHERE DO I GET THE CANS?

  • Cans will be provided to all teams. Before October 28, all teams will be notified of quantity, size and label color of the cans available.

TELL ME ABOUT THE CANSTRUCTION ZONE.

  • Each structure must fit within a designated 8’ x 8’ zone.
  • You may not remove or alter any can labels.
  • You may not cause any destruction to the cans or remove them from the premises.
  • You may not use any glue or other adhesive to the cans.
  • You may bring additional poster board, foam core, string or other craft and construction supplies to help bring your CANstruction to life.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE FINISH?

  • A photo will be taken of your team and the CANstructure. The CALS Dean’s Office will help disassemble the structure for the next team. Judges will review each photo to determine the winner.
  • Winners will be announced after all CANstruction teams have finished. Trophies will be given to the first and second place teams.
