Not sure where to start your college search? Our CALS Majors quiz lets your explore your interests and suggests some CALS majors which may align.

Explore Majors

There are more than 20 undergraduate majors in our college. Each major explores different areas of agricultural, biological, social, environmental, and forest and geospatial sciences.

Visit Campus

Our college offers different programs to visit campus and get to know our majors.

Pathways to UF

There are multiple paths to the University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Students may be admitted as freshmen to take courses in Gainesville or through UF Online, or they may take a pathway through PaCE or Innovation Academy.

Many CALS students transfer to UF after earning their associate degree from a state or community college. Students can transfer into courses in Gainesville, online, or take face-to-face courses at select UF/IFAS Research and Education Centers around Florida.

Freshman Admission

Starting in the Fall of 2024, the University of Florida will provide two options for prospective students to apply: Early Action (EA) and Regular Decision (RD). EA is a non-binding way to apply to UF. It allows students more time to explore their housing and financial aid options. If applicants submit their EA application file before the specified deadlines, they will receive an admission decision sooner than ever before.

Visit admissions.ufl.edu to learn more or to submit an application.

Transfer to UF

As one of two land-grant institutions in Florida, UF has several majors in CALS that are only available at our university and statewide locations.

The college has a tradition of working closely with community and state college students to ensure a smooth transfer to the University of Florida. Transfer applicants must meet the transfer admissions criteria for their chosen major. Refer to the guide below for individual major criteria, as well as university-wide admissions requirements, deadlines, and application.

The college requires all applicants meet the following requirements before transferring:

UF Online

There are currently four CALS majors offered through UF Online, one of the top-ranked online bachelor's programs in the nation. Online programs offer flexibility of learning, a separate online social and support community hub for distance students, and expert teachers. Distance students in CALS still benefit from a dedicated academic advisor and have access to CALS scholarship and award opportunities.

Pathway to Campus Enrollment

PaCE provides freshmen with the opportunity to start their UF degree online and then transition to campus to complete their undergraduate degree.

Unlike applying as a transfer student or submitting an application for UF Online, PaCE is not a program to which students apply. Instead, students may receive an admittance decision through PaCE.

CALS has a dedicated PaCE advisor, Andrew Horvath, who helps students get started at UF and transition to campus after completing a total of 60 credit hours and all requirements for the major.

Innovation Academy

Innovation Academy is a cohort-based program in which students are admitted to spring semester, though they are offered admissions decisions at the same time as other freshmen applicants. Throughout their major of study, students will earn a minor in innovation and build community with other students in majors across the university.

CALS has three majors that can be completed through the Innovation Academy:

Statewide Locations

In addition to the Gainesville campus, CALS transfer students may complete their undergraduate degree by completing courses at one of our statewide locations outside of Gainesville. Several undergraduate majors are offered at these locations through the transfer admissions process.
