FIRST Services


 

Services Available to CALS and IFAS Faculty

We work with faculty and staff from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), UF/IFAS Extension, and other units within IFAS. We can help develop or adapt course and training materials for online or blended delivery of academic and Extension courses and programs.

To request course development or video services, please complete the online services request form. For questions, email FIRST@ifas.ufl.edu.

Join the Fall 2024 CALS Course Design Community of Practice or the CALS Course Delivery Community of Practice by filling out the registration form. Complete the form by August 16, 2024 to have your input considered in the scheduling of weekly session times.

Our services include: 

Instructional Design Support in Alignment with UF Quality Standards for Online Course Quality

  • Developing courses in UF Canvas and IFAS Canvas for:
    • Academic credit
    • Extension training for agents or clientele

 Production and Recording of Instructional Materials

  • CALS Video Studio in Building 162
    • 2-layer recording with green screen (backgrounds can include PowerPoints, photographs, video, virtual sets, microscope feed, etc.)
    • Laboratory setting with table and sink and overhead camera for demonstration videos
    • Compound and dissecting microscopes to show specimens in recording
    • Lightboard
  • Express Video Studio provides 24/7 access where instructors can record their own videos with green screen
  • Express Audio Studio provides 24/7 access where instructors can create their own multimedia content
  • Field and lab recording

 Technical Support While Live Streaming or Recording in G001 McCarty D

  • Zoom and Mediasite videoconferencing and recording for classes and special events
  • Room technology orientations for instructors

 Faculty Consultation and Training on

  • Online teaching best practices and course quality standards
  • Accessibility of course materials
  • Instructional technology
  • Assistance with any other distance education issues or questions

 Development of Interactive Learning Tools

 Instructional Materials Development for Academic Courses and Extension Training
